Surviving and Remembering: The Untold Story of the 222 Transport Holocaust Survivors

April 24, 2025 @ 11:45 am - 12:45 pm

The story of the 222 Transport is a little-known chapter of Holocaust history, yet it remains a powerful testament to survival, resilience, and the complexities of wartime diplomacy. We are lucky to hear from Monika Jalili (a musician specializing in Persian music, a French educator, and an editor) and Nina Wolf (a German immigration lawyer originally hailing from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and since 2008 based in Salt Lake City, Utah) who will give us a detailed account of Monika’s family’s life in the Westerbork detainment camp and Bergen-Belsen, as well as the logistics and significance of the 222 Transport. Monika and Nina’s presentation will be panel-style, offering a poignant look at their post-war experiences and the lasting effects of trauma on subsequent generations.
