ÂÌñÉç Women's Tennis had another successful and exciting season in 2020. The team finished 4th in region head-to-head play, but continued improving through the season-end tournaments, and finishing 2nd in Utah in the thrilling 1A-3A state championship tournament. Sophie C. ’21 finished 2nd at 1st singles, Noelle K. ’22 won the state championship (completing an undefeated season) in 2nd singles, and the other varsity team members, Bailey N. ’22, Siya P. ’21, Delaney H. ’23, Megan W. ’22, and Chrissy V. ’23 all earned points for the team in the state championships. Special congratulations to our seniors: Sophie C., Siya P., Emma K., Anya M., and Chloe H. for completing their high school tennis careers this season. They are great players and representatives of ÂÌñÉç and they will be missed.

The ÂÌñÉç Boys Golf team enjoyed a successful 2020 season. ÂÌñÉç finished in 2nd place in Region 17 play, qualifying for the 2A State Tournament. Our scores steadily improved over the course of the season. We opened the season with a 355 at Rose Park GC and finished the regular season with a 339 at Mountain View GC. Our best performance was a 332 at Sun Hills GC in Layton.
Due to Covid-19 exposure, our Region 17 tournament was canceled. Individually, Eden C. ’22 was our top performer during the regular season, finishing T3rd. Carson R. ’23 was just behind finishing 5th. Henry G. ’21 finished 8th, Cole D. ’24 finished 13th and Eddie C. ’24 finished 18th. Congratulations to all.
The 2A State Tournament was held at Talon’s Cove GC in Saratoga Springs. Playing with only 4 golfers the first day, the team qualified for the second day of play by a single stroke. After two days of competition, ÂÌñÉç finished in 7th place. Individually, Carson R. '23 finished 14th (90-82), Henry G. '21 T23rd (90-96), Cole D. '24 29th (92-99), and Kaden J. 39th (112-98). Dawson J. (102) and Josh L. (117) competed with the team on the second day, but did not receive any ranking as they did not play the first day.
Again, congratulations to all. Thanks for everyone's support.

ÂÌñÉç soccer had one of it’s most unforgettable seasons this past fall. Through the masked sideline cheering, the quarantining, the silly bus rides and the distanced practice drills, the players remained cheerful, diligent, focused, and confident. Despite a heart-wrenching quarterfinal loss, the team spent time during the season focusing on fitness and becoming more and more technically sound, creating a fantastic foundation for the program to continue to build off of. Despite the statistics, the coaches have never been more proud of a group of players for their resilience and leadership skills. ÂÌñÉç soccer, congratulations on an unbelievable season.

Due to ongoing challenges with COVID-19 and with the overall safety of the team and school community in mind, the Volleyball season was cut short this year. While this was a difficult decision, both for the program as well as for our Senior athletes, the Coaches are already planning and looking ahead to next year. #RavenStrong

The fall 2020 cross country season was unlike any other year that I’ve ever experienced. With COVID spreading throughout the world, new responsibilities and challenges arose that the students and I, along with the entire ÂÌñÉç community, had to face. From wearing masks, staying six feet apart, and completing health screenings to missing out on fun end-of-season banquets, students were pushed to adapt and be as disciplined as ever. That being said, they stepped up to the plate. Despite an ever-changing racing schedule due to COVID, every day, students came to practice eager to run and improve. Throughout the season, we traveled beyond Salt Lake to Soldier Hollow, Fairview, and Cedar City for competitive races since so many were canceled locally. But long or short, hilly or flat, students brought the same vigorous enthusiasm for running.
The boy’s team qualified for State as three of the top five placed in the top 10 at the Region meet in Murray. Our guys have aspirations unlike any other students I’ve seen. A handful of them are planning to run marathons and 50ks in the next year (if they haven’t already), not to mention one of our runners embarked on the seemingly impossible 100-miler this past September. The girls are no different. For the first time in several years, we had a full team of girls and it was a blast coaching them. Our top girl placed 2nd in her region meet as a first-year student, qualifying her individually for State where she placed 21st. After the region meet, I remember several of the girls asking me if they could still practice even though they didn’t make State. That’s what cross country is about.
I’m grateful for these determined students that make my job enjoyable and easy, even as a rookie head coach who was challenged in learning how to cultivate a fun environment for them while simultaneously ensuring compliance with COVID protocols. I can’t wait for next season!
